Canadian immigration is actually quite logical once you understand it. Canada wants young, educated, bilingual professionals with Canadian experience. The more of these boxes you tick, the higher your score. The calculator will show you exactly which improvements give you the most points for your effort.
If you're young (under 30): Consider studying in Canada. The experience is valuable and PR is almost guaranteed.
If you're older (30+): Focus on French! Age reduces your points, but French can more than compensate.
If you have tech skills: Look at Provincial Nominee Programs. BC and Ontario actively recruit tech workers.
If you're already in Canada: Focus on getting skilled work experience. Even 1 year makes a huge difference.
